food, incorporated

Last night was the NYC premiere of a powerful documentary film about our nation's food industry called Food Inc. We're messing with nature, big time, people. While I've always griped about the cost of organic food vs. non organic, I know completely understand where that cost is coming from- and I will gladly pay it. To put better food into my body, to keep illegal workers who slave away processing OUR food from being arrested by immigration police, and to try to minimize the amount of inhumane animal treatment that goes on every day. Every time you check out at the supermarket and choose something organic or an item from a small producer, you are voting for better health, better quality of life, and a better planet for all of us.

ok. i'm going to step off of my soapbox now. The flick opens June 12. It's not for the faint of heart, but it is educational, and, as you all know, knowledge is power. Huzzah!
